Our playground

At Little Friends, activity structured and unstructured is centered on children and their play. We perceive play as the means through which they gain understanding of themselves, each other and the world around them, and by which they learn and develop.

Fostering growth
through play

The staff at Little Friends plans and carries out a curriculum of developmentally appropriate themes and activities for children in each of the class groups. At the same time, we provide a relaxed atmosphere with a wide variety of opportunities, materials and plenty of time for children to explore on their own. Within a frame work of safety and mutual respect, we encourage situations that expand children’s relationship with others. Children are also seen as individuals with their own unique growth patterns and learning styles. Teachers attend to identifying these patterns and styles, and to nurturing each child. We see Little Friends as the school part of a triad of educational support for your child.

AT LITTLE FRIENDS, WE BELIEVE:

  • that play is the work of the young child

  • in providing, a fun, safe and exciting environment

  • in creating a developmentally appropriate curriculum

  • in providing a relaxed atmosphere with a wide variety of opportunities, materials and plenty of time for children to explore on their own

  • in nurturing each child individually by promoting their physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth as well as their high self esteem

  • in children developing at their own pace

  • in mutual respect and fostering healthy relationships between teachers, children and parents

  • in the importance of community outreach and our children developing a sense of being part of a community
